A first-hand look at planning standout events in Tampa
Field Marketing Manager
Tampa is having a moment. Bookings are climbing across the gulf coast—it’s the perfect backdrop for corporate events, programs, and meetings. So, naturally, the Orlando team planned a road trip to build on Tampa’s momentum together.
They designed a jam-packed day to immerse themselves into Tampa. They set out to deepen their local knowledge, strengthen internal expertise, and elevate their ability to confidently share Tampa’s potential with clients. Brittany Danna, Experience Designer II, on the Orlando team walked me through the day.
The Challenge: Getting Tampa’s Lay of the Land
The plan? Meet in Tampa, see as much as possible, and make it worth the time away from the office. "One day out can be a setback," Brittany explains. "We wanted to get as much done as possible."

First Stop: Oxford Exchange Experience
The team started where so many great client experiences begin—Oxford Exchange—a space that just works. Boutique shopping, high-end gifts, local pottery, a curated coffee shop with all the vibes…It's a spot that just makes people want to linger.
Then came a surprise experience for the team: a custom fragrance oil-making class. The vendor normally operates out of Oxford Exchange as a pop-up, offering candle-making and scent-blending experiences. "We customized scents, blended them, and left with something personal," Brittany explained.
During their deeper tour of Oxford Exchange's event spaces, the team uncovered co-working spaces for executive teams, niched pockets for breakouts, even a podcast studio perfect for sales kickoffs. "We expanded our knowledge of what could be done there," Brittany says.
Next Up: Waterfront Venues that Make a Splash
The team dove into more research at Sparkman’s Wharf, meeting with suppliers and exploring the shipping container venue and the adjacent barge space with fresh eyes. It's modern, it's flexible, and it’s quintessential Tampa.
A deeper vendor dive followed, meeting with three florists and a décor warehouse. The goal? See the range of offerings from budget-friendly to high-end and understand how different vendors operate on show days—a critical advantage when planning events in Tampa. "It was good to see the tiers, the flexibility, the options," Brittany explains.
Armature Works rounded out the afternoon. An indoor food hall with serious event potential and management connections across the street that opened doors to additional options—including water taxis.

The Finale: A Sunset Cruise
It was a team dinner, but it was also research. They learned about the menu options, varying service tiers (pirate-themed to elevated elegance), and felt the emotional impact of closing an event on the water.
The day ended where all great Tampa experiences should: on the water. A Yacht Starship sunset cruise gave the team the white-glove service that they recommend to clients including cocktails, dancing, a DJ, and dining under the twinkling Tampa sky.
The Real Win: What They Brought Back
This was more than just seeing venues. The bus tour alone uncovered gems for the team, including Cheeseology, a hands-on cheese-making experience that's already being pitched to a client.
"We took notes on places we passed," Brittany says. "Vendors mentioned other vendors we didn't know about. We met one florist on the spot because we were walking by."
The result? New supplier relationships. Updated pricing. A growing internal resource library where each team member owns follow-ups with their assigned vendors. And—most importantly—confidence in their hands-on knowledge.

The Blueprint: How They Made It Work

The Tampa Takeaway
Tampa's on the rise, and our local team knows it inside out. But the bigger lesson? The best way to understand a destination is to be there. To see it. Taste it. Feel it. "Overall, it was a day of making connections and fostering relationships," Brittany reflects. "And growing new ones."
One day. One team. Endless possibilities.
Tampa's ready when you are. And so is our team.
